having trouble using diaper

Jan 03 2012 05:44 AM

Hi im caring for my mom who has Pulmonary Fibrosis. She can no longer get up to use the bedside commode so is now wearing a diaper. Has anyone run into the issue of someone who cannot use the diaper? She has a horrible time. We have tried everything that we can thing of including running water in the bathroom and listening to running water on a walkman to help her relax. Today it has taken her 45 minutes on two different occasions to actually use the diaper. Has anyone else run into this issue? Any suggestions that might help?
Thank you.

It should be a concern if she is having issues. This may be something that needs to be discussed with her doctor as it may be tied into a medical condition that may or may not be related. Also, check to see if any of her medications may have side effects that could contribute to this.
