Cheap briefs
Jan 06 2012 10:31 PM I try to find my supplies as cheaply as I can-- craigslist, thrift stores, etc. I try not spend over 25 cents per garment. I like the Depend brand disposable underwear and have made some good buys on these. Yesterday I was at Sam's Club and purchased two packages of their what used to be Member's Mark disposable underwear. I wasn't sure of my sizing in the Sam's Club brand so I bought a package of Large and a package of XL. Other than being inexpensive, I didn't get much. These were markedly thinner than the Depends brand I have been using. They were thinner than the Tena brand too. I will use these up, doubling up on protection and won't be buying them again. The price was about 40 cents apiece. |

Jan 07 2012 12:39 AM I have never used their pull-up style underwear, but their diaper-style is both more economical and thicker than any Depend product. I like them, buy them by the case, and have used them daily for nearly five years. They are the only product that has never leaked on me. |

Jan 07 2012 10:15 AM All my accidents have happened when I was using cheap protection. If you can make them work for you, wonderful. My experience has been that I have gotten what I paid for, which was no bargain. |

Jan 13 2012 10:47 PM I like to save when I can as well but the price has to be right, I scored 3 bags of Tena (40 per bag) for $10 today, 8 cents per brief, can't beat that. |

RE: Cheap briefs
Jan 14 2012 01:50 AM i always hit the thrift stores in my area within about a 20-30 mile range from my lair. I am not a heavy wetter so i can sometimes get away with cheap diapers but as others have said too most of my leaks happen with them so i stick to the cheap ones while at home or close to home. I wont buy disposable underwear though as i hate every clothlike product i have tried. Depends tape on diapers are my main line product and normaly buy them when on sale. I buy all kinds of stuff at thrift stores, even my polk audio SDA speakers came from a thrift store, sometimes i get lucky and find comfortable or higher end brand diapers and if the price is right i will buy them out or fill the car"witch ever comes first" lol. It's rare to find a deal on fle-bay as the shipping costs kill the deal but there are exeptions |

Jan 17 2012 07:02 AM I think I'm doing it wrong. I've checked every thrift store in my area and have never found so much as a pull-up. What kinds of stores are y'all going to that you find diapers at such great prices? -RMS |

Jan 17 2012 08:25 AM In an effort to save money, it is natural to go to different stores for sales. It seems everyone has a different plan for buying your supplies. Do you use discount cards or look at the weekly ads for your purchases? |

Jan 17 2012 11:04 PM I always shop the sales and then stock up, regular retail prices are brutal where I am, would be nice if the coupon printer worked consistently, I only get a couple coupons per year, always tells me I exceeded my limit. |

Jan 18 2012 12:10 AM I am the same, wait until what I use goes on sale, then buy enough to last me a few months. With my useage at a minimum, I can get through until summer until I need to restock, easiest way to do things, and never at the uh-oh stage of not having what I need at the time I need it! Puffy |

Re: Cheap briefs
Jan 21 2012 01:55 PM What a day yesterday. I've got an old (1985) S-10 pickup that my daughters to haul stuff to the horse barn and back. It gets good gas mileage. My Suburban doesn't. So I've been driving the S-10. Yesterday, while at the Salvation Army thrift store, the truck wouldn't start. I check the battery cables and the negative ground is loose. So I go across the street to the Family Dollar and buy a $4 pair of slip joint pliers to tighten up the negative ground. That didn't fix it. So I take the battery out and start walking towards the auto parts store, part of the chain where I had originally bought the battery. The manager warranties my battery, I get a new one and I walk back to my truck and install it. The truck starts, but the starter doesn't spin as fast as I think it should. I decide to take this truck home and not use it for the rest of my stopping. On the way home, I get caught up in traffic because of a wreck on the expressway. No way on or no way off until the wreck is cleared. |

Re: Cheap briefs
Jan 21 2012 01:57 PM the rest of the story--- I decide to shut off the truck because it looks like I will be there for a while. I shut it off and thought I better turn it back on in case it didn't want to start. I didn't think the truck was going to start but it finally did and I decided I wasn't going to turn it off until I got it in the driveway. So, I'm sitting in traffic, and my bladder starts spasming. I decide to just relieve the pressure a little bit.... I mean I've got on a pair of protective underwear and, while I was uncomfortable doing this, I rationalized that I was stuck in traffic, I had a strong urge to urinate and I was wearing protective briefs to prevent accidents. By now, my muscles were unable to hold the flow. I might as well have been wearing a kleenex. I don't know if it was the way I was sitting or what but those pullon underwear are great for posts micturation dribbles but not for a major release. I was mad at myself, mad at Sam's and glad I was able to get the truck running. Finally the accident site cleared and traffic started moving again. In less than five minutes I was home and changed into dry clothes. My wife told me I should have been better prepared and worn appropriate protection. I told her the pullups, although cheap, were satisfactory for their intended purpose which I saw to be to catch small leaks and dribbles. And I wasn't going to start wearing full protection every time I went to the store, I mean how many times have I been caught up in traffic with ho place to relieve myself. She said, basically suit yourself' but if it happens again I get to say I told you so. I said if I had a nickel for every time she said "I told you so" I would be a rich man! LOL. |

Re: Cheap briefs
Jan 23 2012 11:16 AM It's hard when you have no choice except to be stuck in traffic with no way to get to a bathroom. You have to do what you're most comfortable with. Though your wife seems like quite the character and it sounds like she has your best interests at heart. |
