New Underwear with Flex-Fit?

Oct 09 2013 02:16 PM

Or maybe it's Fit-Flex, I can't remember. But I was in a store recently and noticed that there was something different about the women's underwear. I don't mean the Silhouette, I mean the Underwear for Women. Has anyone else seen these? Is there a version for men yet? They seem to be an improvement over the standard undies, but not quite as good as the Real Fit/Silhouette.

Thoughts?

Back on July 22, Lori - at - Depend (remember Lori? - I miss her!) announced that Depend was looking for men & women who were not currently using Depend products to try "the newly redesigned Depend" for women or men (not Silhouette or Real-Fit - the regular underwear). Lori asked for narratives about activities that those people wanted to get back into and not letting incontinence stop them. Depend planned to put the stories on Depend.com.

You're right, Wetters. I do wonder if this is what she was on about. And what did ever happen to Lori? She did a great job here.

I thought so, too. There was a guy who posted a while back (end of August, maybe? I'd have to go back and check) who saw Lori's "pretty photo" and objected to a woman offering advice about male urinary issues. His screen name was "Dave in Dallas" or something similar. He stated that he "thought [he] was entering the male locker room." Immediately after that comment, Lori seems to have been 'fired', and we got "Thomas at Depend" (women's forums, too), and then "The Depend Team" as a regular moderator.

I wonder what happened to the project? As of August 1, Lori was still looking for participants. Maybe it got scrapped due to lack of interest, got lost in transition after Lori left, or is still a work in progress. A couple of the regulars signed on - Rope_Wrench is one of them.

Wow, wetters. You have been doing your home work. I am not sure how much if anything I can say about the project but I think its safe to say the Real Stories project is still in full swing. Apparently the Flex Fit is the new change they where looking for people to try.
As for Lori, I too miss her contributions here in the forums but I do not think she has been "fired". She is more then likely eyeball deep in the project and getting it done. I am sure we will hear from her soon.

Hi, Rope_Wrench! Sorry for the misunderstanding. I didn't mean to suggest that Lori was let go from the project, the Depend division, or K-C. I meant that it appears that she has been moved to lower-profile responsibilities that are without direct interaction with forum members.

My problem with that request was that it seemed aimed at folks who do not currently use KC products. This is a KC sponsored site, so I expected that most, if not all, of us use KC products at least occasionally, and so this requirement eliminated us. I was curious about why such a requirement appeared here, rather than on point-of-sale store displays, which seemed more logical.

Okay, so I guess no one's tried the new Fit-Flex pull-ons yes, eh?

I'm intrigued but still have a supply of the Real Fits that'll hold me for a while.

I have been thinking about trying a pack once they become available. Although my "performance" hasn't been perfect, I've been having such good daytime and nighttime control for the last month and a half that my need for protection has significantly lessened. I'm reluctant to back away from it altogether just yet, though.

Just came across some of the new Flex-Fits. I am planning on trying them over the weekend. I'll post my findings but so far, things are promising.

Well, Rope, I look forward to your detailed review. :)

I'm hopeful that they'll be a viable alternative to the Real Fits, since the standard undies just aren't. I think I must be between sizes. The mediums are too tight and rip on me, and the larges just kind of gap and droop, especially after they get a bit heavy. I wear regular underwear over them to keep everything in place, but that doesn't help the gapping.

The Real Fits are great, but at ever a $1 per undie (for the large), they're a tad spendy.

Hello I got some. Didn't really notice any difference in the fit. Absorbency is just as good though.

Perhaps "Flex-fit" is just a marketing gimmick to inspire people to retry the product, thinking that it has been improved. It would be good for the Depends team to elucidate how the product has been modified. This forum would be a good place to do that. I like Real Fits and I think I will be slow to try Flex Fit.

I had a chance to try them over the weekend and I have to admit, from my experience, I was pleasantly surprised. When I first began to use protection 24/7 I used the Depend Underwear for Men. What I remember is the elastic was not very strong and about two or three hours it would start to get saggy. The other thing I didn't like was the elastic around the back of the legs ALWAYS came undone and would not hold tight. The Flex Fit seems they have addressed the fit. They still have the the same look but I am not sure it the elastic is secured better or if there is just more of it but either way, it is an improvement.
As for absorbency, I think it is about the same but because of the better fit, you should be able to get more time. I used to get about 4 hours with the old ones but I was able to push one of the newer ones almost 5 and a half hours. Again, I think it was more due to the improved fit.

Just my 2 cents

Thanks for the reports, guys. I definitely wasn't expecting them to fit as well as the Real Fit, but it sounds like they might be somewhat of an improvement. Incontal, you didn't notice any difference at all? Are they at least a little less noisy than the old Men's Undies? One of the many things I like about the Real Fits is that they they're completely silent, even when pulling on and off, up and down--an important thing when in public restrooms.

Hello the stretchy material goes down more in the back. It goes right to the padding.Where the old ones stopped 2 inches above. The sound level is the same.

Thanks for the information, Incontal. I'm sorry to hear that you don't think there's much improvement, and that the noise level is the same. Here's hoping things continue to improve in every company's standard products so I can stop paying over a dollar for every Real Fit. :)

Your welcome. Yeah it can be a bit embarrassing when changing in a public rest room. And the diaper or pullon is making to much noise. I like to use the family rest rooms when available.

You know, I've used the family restrooms too, but I get kind of paranoid about it. I've read so many reports about people coming out to find a glaring mother who believes that only she and those like her "deserve" to use those places. I could explain, but really don't want to, so I would likely just slink away.

Besides, I don't generally put myself in a situation where I have to change a pull-up in public. If I'm going to be out and about for an extended period and think I'll need the capacity, I'll wear a full-on diaper. The Tena Super Stretch is a good combination of discretion and capacity, and I don't think anyone can tell I'm wearing.
