something besides depends

Feb 01 2012 01:44 PM

I know this is a Depend board but I had a question if anyone has used something other then depends? I honestly have not had much happiness if that is what to call it. I have been searching online and have considered trying Secure x-plus or tranquility? If I step on any toes by asking this I am sorry, I am just not happy with the depend line.

I have switched to attends with waistbands for nighttime as they offer higher absorbency which saves me having to use a depends with a cut pad inside (which occasionally leaks) it however they are a lot noisier so I wouldn't recommend them for daytime use.

I try to match protection with need. Because I'm bleeding a lot right now, I use the Depend Men's Underwear during the day. At night when I'm at home I use washables. When I travel I use either Molicare or Abena at night.

I have been using the Tena brand, Super for absorbancy level. They are just what I need, and not too hard to find locally, avoid the mail order/online thing, makes re-supply much easier. On sale they are about $1 a piece, Puffy

Both the Secure X-Plus and the Tranquility ATN are good diapers. However, I prefer Abena.

I wear the depends mens pullups all day. Some of you guys rave about the adjustable underwear, but they are the absolute worst product for an active man. They look and feel like they are made for old women. The pullups I use are ok. They could use leak shields. At night I sleep in Wellness diapers. They work ok and for the price they are the best and most comfortable. Abena is good but costs more. Attends with waistband the same.

I wear the Attends with waistband for day use because they fit and feel like regular underwear. I do use a booster pad if I think I might need it.

For those of us that must wear all the time we look for a diaper that fits and feels comfortable.

Having worn "store-boughten" products for a long time, my old brand just wasn't well-made any more and now my primary product is Attends super-absorbent underwear and I also had samples sent to me of their overnight-extended wear underwear. I found these online. The Attends underwear is, at least for me, considerably better than CVS or Walgreen products and they have leak guards so they hold a lot. I'd like to get some of the overnight underwear as soon as my regular supplier stocks them. One thing I've noticed, everyone definitely has likes and dislikes since everyone is built differently and has differing absorbency needs. If one product works for one person it may not necessarily work well for someone else of a similar build or absorbency need.

I have been using Tranqulity ATN pull ups for night time usage.
Along with others here if I think I need a booster pad some nights I do put one in for the night. Tranqulity does fit my body nicely.

My do or leak creedo is about to go where no one to date here has gone before.
Some folks have spoken of Bambino diapers and they are pricey. I have used Abena which are near as pricey.
I searched for 2 hours and about 50 pages of website ads and have landed on a product that may be as close to a adult diaper with the absorbant qualitys of a Goodnites or simular.
If folks are of a 44 or smaller waistline which I'm just barely but still getting smaller, in the following may be just what we're looking for. The color is two-tone and not cutesy but yet has a few hashmark type lines across them which I can ignore for a better "moustrap" at a affordable price per caselot. In pursuit of this I traded off and excused the minimal designs for comfort and heathy skin.
I've ordered and tried the sample of these and without much further adew I'm happily drier.
The Star Diaper by Quality Diapers . Net is my new choice for nightime needs and long trips on aircraft. Let those TSA folks have fun and turn red at the sight of these, LOL.
Granted these aren't a Abena but they are a better and yes cost a bit more , but not much more, than the Maximums.
I'm sorry K.C. but 1/2 of my needs just were sold to Quality Diapers for the simple fact I can't afford any more soaked or rash causing issues.
I'll still be faithful to the pull Ups with a Huggies overnite "6" for work use though.
Drier Nights Are out There,

No need to apologize to anyone Earl, KC needs to step up the levels their product can handle if they want to capture more of the market, they know there are many better designs out there. I saw these for younger kids, didn't know they made a larger version, but they are still more then $2 a piece, if I was looking to upgrade from the Tena Super, I would go with the Abena Extra, not near as much per diaper at $1.43... the XPlus is up there at $2 though, if you are in one all day, I guess you need to spend that to get something with that capacity, interesting choice though, if they work for you, then that is all that matters! You don't find them too noisy?

Hello Puffy,
For the lack of finding a better product I chose Star Diapers.
There is one thing that might very likely steer me to a Walgreens online though and its the now discovered fact that the manufacturer seems to promote sending you a catalog.
I don't really know what would be in this catalog that already is presented in their online ad. At the same time I really don't want to find out.
I propose to order one shipment and see what happens and then I'll decide where to go.
As my grandparents used to say " If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and sounds like a duck then its definately a duck"
All The Best,

Hi, Dave. Your question about the noise Attends make, it has been my experience that although they, and other plastic-backed diapers, make a lot of noise when you first put them on, they quiet down significantly as your body warms the plastic. Put underwear and pants over them and no one will notice a thing.

It's been some time since I've worn a Depend diaper, the tape-on kind, but as I recall it was the loudest diaper out there. And even they were quiet after a few minutes under clothing.

I also have gone to using the attends with waist band. They are alot better then then depends by far. They are noiser, but with jeans on, or even slacks they are consealed pretty good. I used to be nervous about that, I asked close friends if they could here it. The only time they could was when I had on my pj's.

For the most part, I find depends pullups the best. I like the attends super ones. They have leak shields but as they are a unisex garment, they feel funny and the absorbant part is too small in front for guys. At night, I wear the much maligned wellness diapers. They are way too bulky for day use but I only get few and minor leaks. Plastic pants would help but I don't like them. I tried Star diapers. Very good, kind of pricey. Despite the noisy cover and funny print, they are really comfortable.

Hey, Robert. You've said two things that intrigue me. First, you and Earl have both mentioned Star diapers, but that's not a brand I'm familiar with, and Google turns up nothing by that name. Care to clarify?

Second, you said that the Wellness diapers were much-maligned. Actually, I've heard some really good things about them. I've heard they're bulky, but that kind of goes with the territory when dealing with the "super diapers."

I like wellness briefs. Not too bulky for me even though I usually cut off some of the "wings". Better to have too much than too little. I think they are fine, and I use them overnight frequently.
