Wet at Night

Dec 04 2011 05:20 PM

I've been successful in managing night time incontinence. But I've not read a thread regarding managing skin odor the following day. I am only dependent on an absorbant product at night and after taking a shower in the morning and washing aggressively I've been told on multiple occassions I still have a residual musky odor. Has anyone found a skin care product that will eliminate or mask the offending odor.

Hello Mick,
I found a "weapon" in the war on wee wee.
I faithfully apply Right Guard "5" roll on anit perspirent to both underarms and my abdomen and leg creases daily. I also discovered that shaving the pubic hair to a near smooth also eliminates any chance of bacteria to cause the nasty odors.
At minimum do use the Right Guard "5" everyday and if you aren't to uncomfortable with the idea do the shave and you'll find that clen up is easier also.
All The Best,
Earl H.

A shower in the AM is a must, a wipe/wash down will not do. I prefer a men's shower jel after soap, seems to eliminate it for me, no one has ever noticed, and if they did, never said anything to me. Shorter hair down south helps quite a bit as well, even if just trimmed shorter, Puffy

AXE works for me in the shower each morning. Been using it for a long time and yet to be irritable. Then a dab of rash ointment that has a fresh scent adds to the clean smell for the day.

In addition to the above recommendations, you might consider drinking cranberry juice and taking Nullo, or another internal deoderant. Shaving promotes cleanliness, which is an absolute necessity for rash and odor control for incontinents. The advice to drink enough fluids to keep urine dilute conflicts with the advice to dehydrate after supper; if your nighttime protection is up to the challenge of your drinking enough to keep your urine dilute while you sleep, go for it. If you use washable diapers for nighttime protection, consider adding Clorox or an oxygen bleach to the detergent, to remove any lingering odor.
