Dec 09 2010 08:29 AM Since you mentioned sleeping bags, you might want to consider investing in a waterproof sleeping bag liner. If you're using your own you can put the liner inside the sleeping bag before packing it. That can be a backup in addition to your regular protection. Also, make sure where you are sleeping is the closest to the bathroom in case you get up during the night. Hope this is helpful. |

Re: Xmas and bedwetting
Dec 10 2010 07:17 PM I'm a very heavy bedwetter and have had the sleeping bag dilemma a number of times. Since I have to use a tape on diaper, I pre-tape the diaper on myself prior to the trip and then put it at the back of the sleeping bag along with my underpad. This way, I can wiggle the diaper up my legs and avoid having to use the tell-tale rip of the tabs. I also use a plastic pant, which cuts down enormously on the crinkle and adds extra leakage protection. Pull both the pant and diaper off together and come back later to clean up and prepare for the next night. Good luck! |

Dec 12 2010 07:28 AM I actually had a similar experience. I was very worried about others finding out so I put a pullup in my sleeping bag and then slipped it on after I crawled in. My problem was in the morning. What do you do with it when it's under your pajamas, wet, and you need to get rid of it? |

Re: Xmas and bedwetting
Dec 12 2010 12:49 PM Remember, no one is expecting you still be wearing protection at night, so....unless you are very careless, disposing of your protection shouldn't be too difficult. When I've had a diaper I need to dispose of in my sleeping bag, I just take it with me as I head to the bathroom in either my towel or under a shirt I may be carrying, etc. At camps, I always scout out the nearest trash can and have a plan BEFORE I attempt to get rid of it. I try to cover it with something else in case someone sees me drop it in and then they put something in. I've also brought a plastic trash bag and put it in that and then keep it in my suitcase until I can get rid of all of them at once. |

Dec 12 2010 03:51 PM Guys, Girls...Just put on whatever you are wearing in the sleeping bag. I can't wear disposables because of allergies. They are not going to know that you are wearing anything but underwear. I can walk around with a cloth pull-on and rubber pants (plastic pants) under shorts and my wife can't even tell. Don't worry about it. |

Re: Xmas and bedwetting
Dec 12 2010 05:54 PM Maybe it is just me but I think all the wiggling and moving around in your sleeping bag would bring lots of suspicion. I would just put on my protection and wear pajamas and crawl into my sleeping bag. I have stayed overnight with a bunch of my girlfriends in a hotel and none of them noticed I was wearing protection. Even had to share a bed. Sometimes we go to great lengths for people not to notice and instead make it more noticeable. I do bring disposable bags to discard my briefs when away from home. Either I place them in the bottom of the trash can or if only one night take them home with me to discard. Hope this helps and try to enjoy the holidays. |

Re: Xmas and bedwetting
Dec 13 2010 12:55 PM It's pretty hard with these posts to be clear as to the scenario. I agree. Pull-ups under pajama bottoms - especially the new Depends with a regular underwear looking waitsband - would be easy in most circumstances. Crinkling of a brief is sooooo much harder to hide - as is the sound of taping the brief. I have had to wait until I knew everyone was asleep before attempting to prepare for the night -even when putting it on under a sleeping bag. |

Re: Xmas and bedwetting
Dec 18 2010 06:56 PM To me, a lot depends on who you are with, are these people close friends or just aquaintences? If they are close friends, just tell them you have a bladder control problem and have to wear protective garments to keep things dry and I'm sure they will understand. That's what I do, even the people I work with during the day know I wear "diapers" so I never hear any comments. If they want to talk behind my back, that's up to them, but if I find out about it then I question my choice in friends. Life is not easy in so many ways, others should be thankful they don't have to deal with the issues that we deal with on a daily basis. Happy Holidays! |

Re: Xmas and bedwetting
Nov 08 2011 02:41 PM I came across this old post an thought I'd re-post. The holidays are just around the corner and out of town guests and gatherings away from home can cause soooo much stress. Hopefully, people can get some good ideas from posts that remain relevant year after year. Planning ahead is always a great way to reduce the anxiety associated with the fear of something not going as planned. |

Re: Xmas and bedwetting
Nov 30 2011 06:30 PM The bedpad idea is indeed a lifesaver. The reusable ones are generally large enough - make very little noise and can provide you with real security in the event of a leaky diaper. It sure beats secretly doing a load of wash, which never goes undetected.... |
