Bladder weakness diary

Try to keep your diary for at least a week before you see your doctor, and then take it with your to your appointment.

Keeping a bladder weakness diary is a great way to give your GP a picture of your individual situation.

Try to include the following information:

  • Time of day incontinence usually occurs
  • Behaviours or activities preceding incontinence
  • Location where loss of bladder control happens most often - for example: toilet, hallway, bedroom, stairway, away from home, etc.
  • Amount of liquid consumed
  • Any special diets or changes in diet
  • Any prescription and over-the-counter medications
  • Any behaviours that you suspect may be a side effect of medications
  • Are incontinent episodes becoming progressively worse
