RE: BRRRRR! It's Getting Cold Outside
Dec 02 2011 07:24 PM Yes winter weather increases my incontinence. The comments in the article are interesting when mentioning people sweat less in colder weather....never really thought about that! I think most people will agree with the results of the study. On the other hand though cooler weather really helps for those who are adventuring outside when it comes to diaper rash. For that wearing is more comfortable by far, so this time of year is a double sided coin. In addition winter weather allows you to wear bulky clothes such as jackets that help conceal the protection. Winter jackets can also be noisy to help cover up the crinkling of plastic backed products. In the end though the advantages of wearing in cooler weather out weigh the disadvantages and many here I believe will agree. |

Dec 13 2011 10:21 PM Colder weather does seem to make incontinence worse and I've always wondered about that. Even in a warm place like Florida, we have our occasional cold snaps. For that, I'd wear something heavier than my regular pull-ups, such as an overnight pull-up or a brief. |

Dec 16 2011 01:05 PM Yup. Me, too. I tend to wet more (and thus need more protection) at night during the winter months. I always assumed it was becuase I perspire more during the warmer months during the night, but I much prefer the winter comfort of wearing protection and although I wet more, I seem to get fewer rashes. |

Dec 20 2011 08:55 PM I have to add layers to my diapers during winter months to ensure dryness on the exterior. Even as a kid on went the thicker diapers when outside playing, sledding or ice skating. They saved a few hard falls on the ice but would get down right cold by the time I got back home. |
