Take out trash bags daily with wet diapers in them. Wash all your clothes even if there is a hint of odor. Open windows air out your apartment. Use lysol in garbage cans to kill smell and germs. You must do this daily or you will always battle the smell of urine. If you are sensitive change when wet. Also, make sure when changing that you clean yourself off, use ointment or powder this helps with rashes. Good luck!

Also, with accidents and getting urine on your clothes and sheets use White Vinagar in your wash, one cup per wash. Vinagar helps elliminate the urine smell. I use to wash my mothers clothes and had the same problem. Not so much after using the Vinagar. Also, do a spray bottle with a water/vinagar solution to spray on bed before putting on sheets and also on your clothing before washing. Helps alot.

This looks like a good topic to bring up again. Another suggestion is to use equal parts baking soda and vinegar. For rooms, what might work is using an automatic air freshener that sprays every few minutes. It is also important to make sure to disinfect everything including washing in hot water.

If anyone has any additional suggestions, please feel free to post.

Hello Zoey,
I have a "modern" diaper pail that in reality is a air tight storage unit that one might store pet food in [the unit says it holds 50 pounds of food]. This is complete with wheels and sold for 14.99 here. I bought a box of tall kitchen drawstring bags and a " Natural Magic" brand gel odor absorbing canister that you can find in the air freshener aisle, With the canister in the bottom of the air tight unit and the drawstring bag inside lining this you can have a very good and economical "diaper pail" that you can empty daily or every other day as the airtight seal will trap the odors inside and the air canister will do the rest.
The best thing I enjoy about this is the amount of money saved and less waste as compared to those twist and lock disposal gadgets that you need buy refills for.
All The Best,
Earl H.

I use hypoallergenic soap when I bathe along with some bubble bath. After my bath I use very gentle baby lotion and rash ointment and after that I powder my diaper and put it on. I don't use any plastic underwear or anything I just either wear a girdle or a pair of shapewear panties. I wash my clothes in either Dreff or Woolite laundry detergent and use fabric softener. I am very gentle with myself and don't use harsh chemicals to clean.

Those are some great tips ladyerica. It never occurred to use a girdle or shapewear to help keep the protection in place. As far as the soaps go, do you use unscented or just check to see if the product is for sensitive skin?

How about Ivory soap? I would think it would be non-irritating and certainly a good, economical option.

I use either Dove, Ivory, or Caress bars. I am currently using Caress beauty bar when I shave which is giving me good protection as well as it does soften my skin. As far as my clothes are concerned I am using Dreff I use lotion and some rash ointment for added protection while I dress and going through my day.
